Beginning in 1929 and 1930, the program consisted of a newsreel, five vaudeville acts, a feature film and a trailer.  The bill changed every Saturday.  Some of the outstanding entertainers that played Loew's during those two years are such renowned names as Milton Berle, the magician Blackstone, Edgar Bergen, Sophie Tucker.

On July 12, 1930, the theatre dropped vaudeville and went to a FILMS ONLY policy.  The Loew corporation's policy nationally was to convert the the showing of films exclusively because of the financial difficulties of the Depression.  By 1931, films changed twice weekly. But the period of showing just films came to an end in October of 1933, when Loew's returned to five vaudevile acts and a feature film.  The bill changed twice a week, on Tuesday and Saturday. Several outstanding performers at that time were Kate Smith, SallyRand, Cab Calloway and Edgar Bergen.  Some of the outstanding movies and stars of the early 1930's were George Raft in "Bolero" and "Midnight Club"; Helen Hayes and Clark Gable in the "The White Sister"; Frederick March and Claudette Colbert in "Tonight is Ours"; and the Marx Brothers in "Horse Feathers."

World War II intervened in the early 1940's, but movies regained prominence in the second half of the deacde with such examples as

In the years between 1934 and 1964, Loew's Akron Theatre survived with the showing of films on a stage that was originally not only to accomodate movies but to house a variey of shows.
