The CMA offers Adult Artists Studio Classes throughout the year, with most courses beginning in mid-January, late-April/early-May, and September.  With courses available in a wide range of media, scheduled for weekdays and weekends throughout the day and evening, there’s a class to fit every schedule, budget, and interest!

ADULT ARTISTS
STUDIO CLASS POLICIES

ENROLLMENT
To ensure your class is running and to make your experience the best it can be, each class must meet its minimum enrollment level of six (6) students by its registration date.  Be sure to register early to reserve your place and make your class a success! 

FEES
Class fees are due at the time of registration.  You may mail in a check or credit card number with the registration form, stop in to the office and pay with cash, check, Visa, or Mastercard, or call 330-453-7666 with your credit card number.  We do not accept Discover or American Express. 

Senior Citizens (60 years & up) receive a $5.00 discount on all classes, except Tai Chi Ch’uan (A-900, A-901, A-910, A-911, A-920, A-921).

Course instructors are subject to change without notice.

MATERIALS
Materials are not included in most Adult Artists class fees.  Please call 330-453-7666 to request a supply list. 

Special Note for Pottery Classes – Clay must be purchased hereThe CMA will not fire clay purchased elsewhere.  The cost is $31.00 for 25 lbs of stoneware and porcelain.  The price of clay includes glazes, firing and tax.  25 lbs of stoneware should be purchased at time of registration.  It will be available for your first class. Beginners’ tool kits and other tools are available here for nominal fees. 

WITHDRAWAL/
REFUND POLICY
To withdraw from a class and receive a full refund, you must contact the CMA (330-453-7666) by the registration deadline.  Full refunds for students withdrawing from a class after the registration deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis.   

CANCELATIONS
If the minimum enrollment requirement is not met, the class will be cancelled.  Registrants will be notified if the class is canceled 48 hours before the scheduled starting date and receive a full refund. 

In case of inclement weather, please log on to www.wkyc.com and click on the i-Alert button for notifications of cancellations.  Arrangements will be made for make-up classes at the end of the session.

Portrait Drawing

Pen and Wash Drawing

A fascinating medium for both beginning and developing artists. Like pencil drawing, you interpret what you see, but here, you use ink, ink washes, and watercolor washes. Drawing On the Right Side of the Brain

Think you can’t draw? Join this class and learn otherwise. This class will help students practice the techniques in Betty Edward’s book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” and show you just how artistic you can be. Create A Paperweight 1 Day Workshop

Class will begin with an introduction to glass and an overview of the tools used. Then you will apply the information by making your very own, one-of-a-kind glass paperweight! Instructors will grind and polish your weight and you will receive your finished creation within a week of class. No Previous hot glass experience is required. Make a Valentine's Day Gift 1 Day Workshop

Just in time for a Valentine's Day – make your significant other a sterling silver gift! In one afternoon you can assemble and finish a piece of jewelry or an accessory for your sweetheart. Men can make a necklace, ring, bracelet or earrings for your lady, Ladies can make your man a ring, money clip, key ring, or pendant. When you call to enroll in the class, you will be provided with information on the projects you may select from and the materials cost. In order for materials to be ordered, students must register for this class and select their project before 1/14. Starter packet of materials: $20 to $50 dependent on the project you select, payable at CMA's Office in advance or on the day of the workshop. Members: $25, Non-Members: $40

Jewelry Construction and Metalsmithing

An exciting opportunity for anyone with an interest in jewelry-making. Beginning students will learn techniques including sawing, filing, forming, texturing, polishing, riveting, soldering, and bezel stone setting. Returning students will progress to more complex projects including filigree, patination, etching, enameling, tube stone setting and basic faceted stone setting. Classes will begin with short lectures, printed instructions, and demonstrations, followed by plenty of time to work on projects that gradually increase in complexity, such as rings, pendants, and bracelets. Each student will have their own set of basic hand tools to use for the duration of the class. Each term features new projects, so repeat students are welcome! Packet of materials: $35 to $55, dependent on individual’s projects, payable to the CMA on the second night of class. Tool Deposit (refundable with return of tool kit at end of class): $60. Polymer Clay Jewelry 2 Day Workshop

Whether you’ve never touched clay before, are ready to start again, or just want to review basic techniques to improve your skills, this is the class for you. Raku 1 Day Workshop

You must be enrolled in a current CMA Pottery Class, at the Intermediate level or above. This workshop will focus on glazing and firing pots in the Japanese tradition of Raku. Each student may bring two medium-sized, bisqued, stoneware pots to fire. Check with your instructor on the stability of your pieces. Glazes and tools will be provided. You will be involved with each step of the process, including set-up and clean-up. Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes (no sandals, please). Bring your own drink for lunch and a covered dish to share. Limit of 8 students in each workshop. Members: $40, Non-Members: $55

Discover Your Creative Direction!

This workshop is based on "The Artists Way", the successful book by Julia Cameron and Mark Bryan. Creativity is not limited to “artists,” but something for people in all walks of life. In this workshop, facilitator Kathy Krisher (corporate trainer and local fiber artist) will help you discover your personal, professional, and artistic goals and help you nurture your personal creative resources. Reading and personal reflection time between class sessions is essential to the success of the course. Bring a journal or spiral bound notebook to class with you. Felting Fun

Learn what the buzz about felting wool is all about! It seems that everywhere we turn these days, magazines are talking about how much fun felting is. In this class you will learn how and why wool felts. You will have plenty of time to discuss, observe, and experiment with techniques like wet felting and lamination/nuno felting, plus needle felting (a special no-muss, no-fuss dry technique)! Using these methods, you will make 2-D and 3-D wool creations that can be used as decorations embellishing hats, vests, sweaters, and more! No prior experience is needed -- ages 13 and up!   Starter packet of materials (including wool, needles, work surface and needle-felting book): $30, payable to the instructor on the day of class.
