How does Road Runner e-mail work?

Can I assign my own email address?
Can I email someone locally? Nationally?
How many email accounts can I have?

With Road Runner you can receive and send email to anyone, anywhere. The cable system may set your initial email address (domain and user name). You can configure up to 4 (four) additional email accounts in addition to your initial email account (visit the Account Management System to do so).

We now have dial-up access for our users on the road! Go to help.rr.com and click on "Dial Access".

Also, if you have an alternate Internet connection and you just want to reach your mail, a number of our customers have reported luck with http://www.mailstart.com/ , and http://www.mail2web.com/ . These are third party sites, and have nothing to do with NEORoad Runner - we can't help you with any issues with these Internet sites.

Home networking (LAN)

A number of companies sell small routers that allow you to share a Road Runner connection among several computers, and sometimes have other functions like firewalling.

These devices should work just fine with Road Runner. Some tips:

  • When first installing this device, hook your router to the cable modem before hooking it up to any of your computers.
  • When troubleshooting your connection, try to hook up a computer directly to your cable modem to make sure that any problems are not caused by your router connection. We do not support third-party devices.
  • Make sure that addresses for the mail server are fully qualified. Use 'pop-server.neo.rr.com' instead of 'pop-server' for picking up mail, and 'smtp-server.neo.rr.com' instead of 'smtp-server' for your outgoing mail server.

Privacy

We do not sell Road Runner email addresses. If you are curious about your rights, there is a "Subscriber Privacy Notice" that was part of your install packet that spells out your rights to keep your personal information private. This information is also available online.
